Quest for Greener Pastures

Posted by ookpo on December 30, 2008

I have read about American history in the past but not in the way the books in this class present it. From Pocahontas to Manifest Destiny and in the textbook, we see the thought process of all the founding fathers and what they were willing to compromise to achieve their goal. It was a business to them which could also explain why they did not mind the way they treated black and Indian. It was not right to exclude the original owners of the land nor was it right to bring in foreigners to work as slaves but they probably saw it as executive business decisions that someone had to own up to and implement. After all, they were not the wealthiest in their homeland and this was their only opportunity to advance in status. Power was new to them and that much power at once easily confused them.
